The prompt for this game design project was to create an anti-game or game defying the typical form and structure of games. In "Room" I challenge the mold of traditional games by essentially subtracting from the setting and story as the player progresses. In each subsequent room, more furniture and objects vanish until nothing remains in the very last room except a television projecting the first room the player began in.
In typical games, the player also usually tries to keep all action within his or her eyesight. However, in "Room," objects in the process of floating away or disappearing will freeze in motion when looked at straight on. In order for the needed objects to vanish and open the door to the next room, the player must look away from everything happening and wait until the specific objects have fully disappeared.
